Our Wasted Period Programme is an initiative that educates students who get, or will get their period, on the wide range of reusable period products available today.
Starting menstruation can be a big change, and can sometimes feel confusing or overwhelming. This programme helps make things simpler by providing clear and practical education about how reusable period products actually work, how to care for them and how they compare with disposable options. Our goal is to help people better understand their cycle, feel comfortable asking questions and build the confidence to make informed decisions about how they choose to manage their period. By encouraging open conversations and reducing stigma, the programme also helps normalise periods while showing how reusable products can reduce waste and save money over time.
This initiative is designed to empower people to embrace their cycle and make informed decisions when choosing which product is best for them.

Face to face learning.
Our face-to-face Wasted Period sessions are delivered in partnership with supporting councils and give students the chance to learn in a practical, hands-on way.
Students can see and handle a range of reusable period products, learn how they work, ask questions in a safe and relaxed environment, to better understand the waste and cost associated with disposable products. These sessions are designed to be informative, inclusive and easy to engage with, with plenty of opportunity for real conversation and practical learning.

Extended learning.
As part of the Wasted Period Programme, we provide a range of video resources that build confidence and deepen understanding around reusable period products. This includes a video series created in partnership with KidsCan, designed especially for younger menstruators, alongside additional videos that explore the topic in a more casual, approachable style. The aim is to give students the chance to revisit information, learn at their own pace and continue the conversation in a way that feels accessible and relevant.

Other resources.
Access to Wasted Periods also includes a range of additional resources to help students explore the topic further and build confidence at their own pace.
This includes interactive quizzes, easy-to-read blog posts, links to reusable period product brands and additional information designed to answer common questions and support ongoing learning. Everything is there to make the topic easier to understand, easier to revisit and easier to keep talking about.
