New year, new habits! If you’ve resolved to reduce waste this year, you’re in the right place. Waste minimisation doesn’t have to be overwhelming. It’s about making small, intentional changes to your daily habits that add up to big environmental wins.

Plus, let’s face it—less waste means less clutter, and who doesn’t love a tidy home?

Start with the three R’s: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. But—plot twist—they’re in that order for a reason. Reducing waste is the superhero here, reusing is the trusty sidekick, and recycling is… well, the last resort.

Here’s how to begin:

  1. Audit your waste: Yes, this means peeking into your rubbish bin. What’s in there that didn’t need to be? No judgment if it’s mostly takeaway containers—we’ve all been there.

  2. Set realistic goals: You’re not going zero waste overnight. Start with one area, like swapping plastic bags for reusable ones.

  3. Find alternatives: Love your morning coffee? Bring a reusable cup to your favourite cafe. Bonus: Many places give you a discount for it!

  4. Educate yourself: Read, watch, or listen to anything that inspires you to keep going—like this blog or come to one of my workshops...(hint, hint).

This month, challenge yourself to cut your weekly waste by half. It’s easier than you think, and your bin (and the planet) will thank you!

We will outline more specifically how to manage each step above to our Bin-Fluencer subscribers with an exclusive Blog Post each week.
